Artist History
Singer/Songwriter Chris Beardsley started his musical journey in 1991 as a member of the acoustic duo Dark Star. After spending most of 1991 in that duo, Dark Star added a drummer, keyboard player, and a bass player and what evolved was a band called "The Village". It took most of 1992 to tweak their sound resulting in a 5 piece band changing to a 4 piece band. The Village dropped their keyboard player and enjoyed some regional success mainly as a "cult type" band that had a small but loyal following. The Village released 2 full length Cds ("Lost in the Shuffle" and "Rock and Roll Messiah")and one EP(Earth One). The Village were known for their exciting live shows that included amazing original music and creative covers that were played in an intense fashion that would sometimes lead to some lengthy jams. The Village broke up in February of 1997 and over the past 5 years Chris Beardsley has been focused on songwriting and playing mainly around Connecticut as well as regular engagements at New York City's legendary "Bitter End" club. September of 2002 brought the long awaited release of Chris Beardsley's first solo CD "Simple Life". The CD has 11 new original songs that deal with various life topics with the main emphasis on change, loss, and gain. Beardsley recorded the CD between July 2001 and August 2002. Beardsley has quite a backlog of songs and he plans to start recording a new CD this fall. In addition to that there are plans for a live CD(exclusively on Mp3.com) as well as a compilation CD that features Beardsley's work with "The Village". If you get a chance to catch Chris Beardsley in concert it is an exciting affair. Beardsley plays many original songs that span his entire career as well as some choice covers from some of his biggest influences. Beardsley plays an acoustic guitar and uses his harmonica as a lead instrument. |
