    Artist History
Rachel Flood was the driving force behind a phenomenon in Vancouver called unrefined @ the sugar refinery. It was the warm and fuzzy home of some of Vancitys best underground hip hop and spoken word pulling sold out shows at the intimate location of the sugar refinery for a full year. Before it evolved into a special occasion event drawing crowds of over 300-500 people. She developed and produced the Sista Hood Celebration in Vancouver which featured all women in spoken word and hip hop, while raising money for the Downtown Eastside Womens Centre (http://www.dewc.ca/) in honour of International Womens Day. She was the producer of the Loop Magazines Music Issue Party and the Co-Director of the first annual New Forms Festival (www.newformsfestival.com). She is a founder of and has been the Executive Director for Velocity Media Arts Services Society (www.capitalmag.com/vmass) for over a year now and has given birth to many youth oriented and artist run initiatives in Vancouver through out her time there. She is a passionate performer and dedicated social justice activist using her talent as a writer and performer to create the momentum necessary to create a community for herself and her peers to prosper in. She believes in the affect of all our actions, or inaction as it were, and the fate of the world and is dedicated to using all of the privileged she was born into to promote change in her lifetime. I’ve been a mouthy bitch my whole life, and now I have a microphone Rachel Flood 2000
