Artist description
The story of Elektrikalorius began in the mid-80's, when three
obscure studio rats laboured away, refining their analog wizardry with
catchy hooks and punchy melodies. The result was endless hours of
analog recordings that, until now, have gone unheard.
Fifteen years later, Elektrikal Records now proudly presents their
polished 80's sound in a re-mixed digital format. Several tracks have
been completely omitted, whereas a few vocal tracks and effects have
been introduced.
But enough about us, let the music do the talking. Throw on the disc,
light a cigarette, and check the vibe. |

Artist History
History of elektrikal records
last updated september 2002
The birth of Elektrikal Records is about as random as it gets. The story of Elektrikal Records and the timely re-birth of Elektrikalorius began coincidentally in Nørrebro, Copenhagen in March, 2002.
It was around this time when Troels, a founding member of Elektrikal Records and an audio junky to boot, stumbled across an old reel-to-reel 8 track recorder for sale in a local junk shop. He purchased the machine, including some worn out tape already in the machine, for the measely sum of 700 Danish Crowns.
Desperate to get to work with his new find, he rushed home to get it all set up. He wanted to begin recording using the old tape, but immediately noticed that there were already tracks recorded on it. The tape had a label on it with the name Elektrikalorius and a phone number. He played the tracks, only to be swayed by a sound from a time long ago.
It was clear that these recordings were very old. However, upon playing the hours of music over and over again, he realized that there was a lost gem in these tracks. Forgotten sounds of a world long past.
A few weeks later, he had a party at his flat, and told the story while playing the music. People noticed and were intrigued. Soon he starting bringing them to all the parties, as it became an ongoing theme. The more people listened, the more they fell for the sound.
Drunken talks soon turned into midday brainstorming sessions, where the idea came to start covering the music. But who were these guys Elektrikalorius?
Sometime around May, 2002, the phone call was finally made to the mysterious phone number to see what would happen. A woman answered. Once Troels told her about the tape, and the name Elektrikalorius, she said that it was from her son who had made the tape together with his friends. She eventually gave us Mugge's number in Los Angeles.
BOOM. The connection was made, and we finally had the man behind this music on the phone. He laughed and was happy to hear the enthusiasm for this forgotten sound. We talked long and hard, and the rest, well, is history...

Press Reviews
Euro SynthPop is Good!
This group does a good job of invoking Euro Synthpop. Reminiscent of the Pet Shop Boys and other Euro Trance types. Pretty good production. The singer has a nice suitable voice for this type of material. The synthesizers convey a romantic mood on which the singer conveys his message. This isn't really my type of music but this particular song is quite good and refreshing.

Catchy.....very!!
Catchy Intro!!Beat is great, very nice indeed!!The vocals are perfect for this kind of song!!Chorus is very nice! There is actually nothing bad I can say about this song!!Actually, maybe one thing..Some of the sounds you use are a bit old...In my opinion, try and experiment on sound!!The melody, catchiness vocals and backing vocals are all good but the overall sound of this production, in my opinion could be much better if only you experiment a bit!! Well done indeed!!

Good effort - chorus hook falls shy
Vocals are solid - good pitch-control, nice timbre, but the delivery lacks conviction - how about singing with more power, more from the gut? It's a good melody, but the hook falls short for me. It would help if the chorus arrived sooner.

hey this is nice. i like the chorus but it takes too long to arrive there. i like the beat but the voice is too high in the mix maybe. lots of potential.

Excellent lead vocals. Production is obviously of professional quality and expertise. Hook is there but a little flat. Could use a little work. Maybe bring in a solid lead rift but keep it short.

my headline
The song was very professionally done. I thought the song flowed together well and the singer was quite good also. I liked the little counter melodies you added with the instruments and backing vocals, they helped keep thing interesting.

Hook it Up
Well the production on this reminds of a time when this wasn't garageband.com. whatever the production is good, and the lead vox carry it all.

This is cheesy pop at it's best. Computers run the show. Vocals sound like the Psychedelic Furs Catchy hook. GOod digital production.

A Little Dated.
Catchy tune - definately one of the better songs I have listened to today. Nice production and good vocals. Music is a bit dated - but I could hear this on commercial radio. Good hook - sounds familiar. Great quality to the voice - both lead and back-up. Nice use of sounds and effects.

Lead Vocals Very stong - Pro and right on - good energy. Production SUPER! Mood - Very nice, very enjoyable. Bells a little loud in mix. Sequencing is amazing and are a big part makes the song work. (the ring mod bells) Sounds really good guys - Best of luck!

Electric!
SOunds like early 80's tunes from the first years of MTV. Pet Shop Boys maybe? Production is good - drums could use a little crafting, but the rising synth into the chorus works well.

An 80's Comback!
Nice production - good use of instruments and effects. A bit dated for me - reminded me of an 80's track(not that there's anything wrong with that!) Good voice and arrangment worked well. The mood took me to a beach somewhere messing with friends in a bad movie. Good fun!
