Artist description The Vamps are a Jackson, Mississippi based septet who rely heavily on the acid jazz idiom. The group mixes original compositions and inspired readings of familiar classics. You can hear Blakey's influence on their east coast bop and blues numbers, shadings of Jimmy Smith's and John Patton's B-3 in-the-pocket grooves, Getz's west coast cool, funkafied readings of faimiliar pop classics, and even the odd time-signature defying Brubeck-esque study. Fans of Blue Note's Rare Groove series and Verve's Talkin' Verve series are sure to dig!
