Artist History
Formed in April of 1998, this San Jose skate-punk band mission was a simple one: play anywhere for anyone. No attitudes. No pretense. Just play music. From festivals to clubs to teen centers, Outtaline gives100%. After all, these three guys are doing what they love to do.With their debut record out now, this 4-piece-turned-trio has hit the ground running...no, make that sprinting. Because for Todd, Matt, and Paul, melody and speed were never mutually exclusive. Individual member's musical resumes include bands as varied as Soda., Crash Course, and Audio Fungus. As OuttaLine, the three twenty-somethings have, in their brief existence, already shared the stage with Agent Orange, Unwritten Law, No Use For A Name, Tilt, Zeke, and others. |

Press Reviews
"In the current deluge of Mp3's and self-produced CD's flooding the Internet market place, one is bound to stumble across a band that appeals to you in more ways than one. Outtaline are a picture-book definition of that type of band. Consisting of members from bay area favorites Soda, San Jose's Outtaline are the type of band that draws one in by their very normalcy. There is no gimmick; no schtick; and no over-bearing attitude. They are simply put; as honest a band as I have heard in a long time. I remember getting the same feeling when I first heard SAMIAM, Jawbreaker, Fuel, NUFAN and the like. Outtaline are all about whipping up some great skate/pop punk that pays homage to their influences with a nod, rather than immersing themselves in trying to emulate some sort of scene or sound. It's this kind of approach that make their self-titled debut so pleasurable; no preconceptions."Track one, 'Main Support' sets the tone for what Outtaline is all about, both personally and musically; the perfect band introduction song focusing on unavoidable anxieties of performing. 'ÉAnd I'll try to be what you wanna see, but I don't wanna to be a star; Everyone stares at me; my insecurities; I'm just the guy at the end of the bar.' An incredible blast of Jawbreaker, NUFAN adrenaline. 'Thanks Dude' follows with a similar rocking shot of So.Cal pop-punk ala Strung Out. 'Dummy' is a nice piece of '39 Smooth'-era Green Day. 'Wiggle Puppy' is quite possibly my favorite track; a pissed-off rant about relationships we can all relate too, executed in a Good Riddance-like fury (complete with an ultra-cool background tirade). This song is truly amazing. 'All About You' reminds me of the melodic pop-punk direction NUFAN is taking nowadays, while 'B.M.S.' is reminiscent of the best of Pulley, with some great hooks in the Jawbreaker/SAMIAM mold. 'No Game' would sound perfect on Fat Wreck or Epitaph, fast and melodic without the sap. 'No Need' is a great example of the cohesiveness of this great band. A tight as hell Pennywise-style rocker. The aptly named 'Slow Song' has the melodic sweetness of the Ataris. 'Wrecked', another of my personal favorites, is Outtaline at their finest, fastest, and catchiest; reminiscent of No Fun At All at their most melodic; brutally honest, the song praises a close friend of the band for always being there; skating lessons, punk shows, hanging out, and helping out when you're drunk. This song is one of the greatest ode's to a friend I have ever heard, professing a lifetime of accolades. 'Screw Up' is a full blown confession of failed relationships. The disc closes with 'Selfish Things', another cleansing of the soul, this time about lost friendship and the need to make amends. "Vocally, Outtaline is a far cry from the often nasal-drenched sneering of their peers. They're equal parts Pulley, Agent Orange, No Fun At All, NUFAN and Pennywise gruffness; the lead and backing vocals of this band are a true asset to their sound. The guitar and rhythms are nothing short of spectacular; you get the feeling these guys really enjoy what they're doing. After listening to this CD repeatedly, I have no doubt that we will be hearing much more from this extremely talented band. If you get a chance, I encourage you to visit their website http://www.outtaline.com and order the disc from the band. Paul is an extremely cool individual who would be more than happy to fire it off to you (and in record time!). It is worth every penny of your hard earned punk rock dollar. Simply putÉexcellent."
