Artist description From the germ of an idea conceived by Rick Rogers of Lincoln Field to what you now see on this page, you are witnessing the efforts of a number of MP3.com bands who shared one thing at the outset: a 4 Yak or higher rating from MP3yak.com. Now, after weeks of Yak chat room planning sessions and frequent e-mail amongst the 12 artists who appear on this first of a planned series of compilation CDs, the common ground of 4+ Yaks has been extended to include a shared sense of purpose and community, as well as a desire to do some good things for charity and some healthy promotion for some of MP3.com's brightest lights. Rick's idea was first presented in an 8/30 messageboard post and within just a few days many of the 4+ Yak artists and Mr. Yak himself had responded with enthusiasm, support and a host of ideas that just seem to keep on coming. You are now seeing the fruits of our careful planning: a DAM CD that features a hand-picked tune - many of which will be exclusively available on the compilation CD - from each of the first 12 artists who signed on to participate. Most of the proceeds from the sales will go to the American Cancer Society'sBreast Cancer Network and VH1's "Save the Music Foundation". The rest will be used to promote this effort and those that will follow - additional CDs that will feature other 4+ Yak artists who have expressed interest in joining the movement. Naturally, we don't expect you to fully suppress the inclination to freely download the music here but please, if you will, try to focus on the higher purpose by showing your support with just a bit of your purchasing power.
