King Arthur. Robin Hood. Ivanhoe. All legends of the highest order, and subjects of some of the best films ever made. "Battle of Legends," captures the spirit of these films, using an expansive horn melody that evokes images of slashing swords, flying arrows, and boiling oil.A fast synth sequence drives the pace of this tune, while powerful percussion and synthetic orchestral hits create energy. The synthetic and bombastic nature of this recording make it more suitable for a modern adaptation of a classic action film. Chivalra has created an epic song that very enjoyable.-Doug Cornell48 minutes of keyboard delight from David Flook, who calls his one-man band Chivalra. The first thing that will strike your mind when listening to the first track is that you're playing a King's Quest game. One of the ones that's more ambitious than simple midi. Of course, when the drum machine begins rolling around, and crashing like a trailer for Hunting For Red October, then you realize there's more to the cd. "All my music is written using a single synthesizer controlled by a computer sequencer on which I do all my composing." And he's had no formal music training beyond high school. He also wrote a storyline to accompany the instrumental music you'll hear, to give himself an audio experience to shoot for. Medieval, renaissance and fantasy are all rolled up in here, making it neato to people like me who listen to this stuff all the time when they aren't reviewing cds. It's good to write and do work to. And no, it's not noise. If I wanted noise, I'd turn on the air conditioner or Philip Glass. I suggest you give it a try, or at least poke around the homepage before you decide to buy, if you like movie music with a beat, and don't mind that the orchestra failed to show up.-Ben Ohmart
