Artist History
The history of our band, Again Forgotten, starts back about five years ago when Brett Smitley, Adam Wiedmann, Dane Wiedmann, and Ryan Carins decided to form a band called Adam, Dane, Brett and Ryan’s Band Who Likes To Smash Stuff and Wear Weird Hats (A.D.B.R.B.W.L.T.S.S.W.W.H). They didn’t even have real instruments just boxes, wooden guitars, rulers with duck tape for drumsticks, half a microphone, and broken speakers for pretend amps. Brett would sing, Ryan would pound on the boxes, Adam would play his wooden guitar, and Dane would play the other wooden guitar. Their instruments didn’t make any noise so they would usually rock out to CDs or songs on the radio. That Christmas Adam got a guitar and amp and kicked Dane out to make room for other guitar player Ryan Rose who knew how to play some Nirvana songs. Pretty soon practices moved to Ryan Roses house were Ryan Carins left the band and Adam started to play bass guitar. Adam and Ryan started to jam without a drummer for short period of time writing original songs. A couple weeks later Brett borrowed his brother’s bass and started to jam with Ryan and Adam, with Adam moving to second guitar. The trio practiced for about a year until Ryan and Brett were constantly fighting. Brett left the band and soon after Adam stopped attending practices. One day while sitting around talking, Adam, Brett, and Erik Sooy decided to start a band. Adam had a guitar and amp, Brett had his brother’s bass guitar and amp, and well, Sooy didn’t have a drum set but a pair of drumsticks, and some old crates for drums. Eventually Erik got a drum kit and the threesome practiced and wrote songs for about three years. Later Brett got tired of playing bass and started playing guitar, which meant that the band had no bass player. After a while Adam wanted to start playing drums and teamed up with Brett for a little side project band called Tony the Pony(or Salt &Pecker, I’m Hard Why Aren’t You?, Fat Anorexic). The two began jamming in Brett’s room with a crappy drum set that Brett bought for fifty-bucks. After that Sooy went on to form the rock band Reverie. After playing in Brett’s room for a while, Tony the Pony moved into Adam’s spacious basement in the fall of 98’. Through the winter Tony the Pony would play old songs from Hurts When I Pee and cover songs with no bass player. In the early spring a couple of original songs were written for a seven song CD, in which, only two copies were ever made, and their first upcoming show at Drewstock in May of 98’. After Drewstock nothing much happened, just more practicing, the creation of a demo tape that has been lost, and one or two backyard shows. With the lack of a bass player, Tony the Pony sets were short, terrible sounding, and usually ended with Brett diving into Adam’s already shot in the ass drum set. Frustrated and upset Adam and Brett decided to stay together and started practicing in Brett’s Attic in the Fall of 98’ and the Winter of 99’. In early spring Brett decided he was tired of singing and wanted to get a full time singer in the band. In came Ed Dira, who did more watching then singing. After a while, Adam and Brett stopped telling Ed there was practice. At the same time Brett had been talking to Bob Mihov who was very interested in singing for our band. Not only could Bob sing, but he screamed like his ass was on fire. Adam and Brett knew that Bob was definitely the right man for the job and joined our band in April 99’. With the edition of Bob also came a new and harder sound that Tony the Pony was afraid to experiment with . After practicing and writing songs with Bob, the word was out that Tony the Pony was ready to kick ass and take names under the new band name U.F.Ho. With this, they landed a show with Sexy Chocolate, Hoggle’s Jewelry, The Dickheads, and Dixon Ward at the end of May. With the show one-week away they thought it would be a good idea to find a bass player. They began searching our school for anybody who could play bass, and finally came upon Jesse Reim, the NJ state yo-yo champ, who was more then happy to fill in a job that had been vacant for so long. Before AF Jesse had been a member of Pleasure & Pain, and an acoustic band called Take 5. At the first practice they were blown away by his weird ass funk slap bass stuff and his talkative, friendly nature. After that first practice they all knew Jesse would fit in perfectly and joined the band in May 99’. At their first show, nervous and anxious, they introduced a new type of music to the local music scene. Not only did they finish their set, but had tons o’ fun rockin’ out and going nuts on stage. Because people took their first name U.F.Ho the wrong way it was changed to Again Forgotten. |
