    Artist description
Official Mp3.com site for the Uk's most prestigious Deathcore band. Intense blast beats, crazy beatdowns and chuggy grooves set the backdrop for some of the most ferocious riffagery you'll hear this side of the atlantic! One of the UK's best hopes in a time of mainstream bombardment.

    Artist History
Concieved in the early summer of 2001, with orginal memebers Ben Crudginton and Chris Cox, MCTB quickly made a large name for themselves with extensive gigging around the UK and by releasing 'Our Beauty Cannot Be Trusted'. The blistering five track E.P. recieved some amazing reviews and was hailed by many a fanzine as 'demo of the year'. In Easter 2002, the band entered the studio again to record the mighty 'The Ephemri Theories...' E.P. This release again saw MCTB recieve some very high praise and set a new level of intensity within the Deathcore genre. Unfortunately due to work commitments and musical differences Ben and Chris left the band shortly after the recording sessions, meaning the new cd never got a full release. MCTB have currently found a replacement vocalist in Aaaron Rushbrook (guitarist with fellow essex metalcore mob Set In Silence), the band are still looking for a replacement 2nd guitarist. The band plan to re-enter the studio again in early winter to re-record two of the tracks from the last E.P. plus three new tracks... UKDC

My Cross To Bare- Our Beauty Cannot Be Trusted E.P. A nice quiet ambient orchestral intro shifts aside for one brutal muthafucker of a demo. This is the best demo of 2001 alongside Tangaroa ( of course!!! :) ) This takes all the best parts of death metal and stomping metal core and throws them all together into a pant wetting, erection inducing CD. Hear the faint reminiscences of Canvas ( on the Hard to Swallow split especially ) yet this is a far more evil entity. Gutworms sound and power is fairly prominent in there too but My Cross To Bare are a more deathly machine. Think more towards Suffocation and Dying Fetus size chugging guitars and add in some Meshuggah, as well as the Euro metal style sounds of Deformity, Arkangel and Stamping Ground and you are now getting the picture. Take into account this 5 piece from the mighty Southend scene ( also home of Nadir, Raiden, Stoopi, Above All, Understand and many others ) have only been going for 4 months and to date (9.9.01) only played 4 gigs then surely this proves why this is the best demo of the year for me. Well put together songs, played incredibly tight for such an early moment in their careers. Vocals do the full range from near gutteral death to raging high spewing shrieks. Soilent Green influences occasionally stand out, especially at the end of "Deuteronomy" ( after the false ending! ). Big grooves, blasting from Satansville itself, cool beatdowns and fast riffing along with huge, fat(phat) as fuck chugging and an excellent amount of that double pedal attack that we love here at the Raw Nerve Empire. Nice guitar harmonies in "The Laceration" add that touch of melody at the right time and closing track "Signed in your blood" features some of the best open noted chugging I've ever heard. This is a perfect beast of a demo and My Cross To Bare make me so fucking jealous as I think they have found the perfect cross of sounds that will have them signed within the next 12 months. The production on here is all good, maybe could have been made a bit louder in the final mixdown but take nothing away from this superb recording. A godlike band in the making. If you don't buy this or see them live at every given opportunity then you are quite simply a fool. Do not neglect this from your collection. It will curse you forever if you do. Can't wait for the album and at the rate these chappies are going, I should have it stuck in my CD player in about 3 weeks! AND... they are bloody nice guys as well. Can I have my blow job now please?!!!! .. Get this or suffer. RAWNERVE Webzine Review My Cross To Bare- The Ephemerai Theories E.P. The story of My Cross To Bare is a truly sad one. Problems with members, disputes and people leaving, but at the helm of it all is the true tragedy, that they aren't one of the biggest bands in the UK. "My Last Aesthetic Breath" has the most incredible feedback intro, sample, chaos and then chuggy sections. Truly Death-core of THE finest quality. A vicious scream vocal mixed with deathly moans. Some of the riffing is as good as you will get on any Arkangel, Meshuggah, Reprisal, At The Gates or Cannibal Corpse record and it's so sad that this band couldn't be appreciated by many more. What more can you ask? Full on Slayer-esque riffs, mad, complex patterns, beatdowns beyond all reason, truly riff central. One of the best beatdowns known to man is 3 minutes into "My Last Aesthetic Breath" mixing Stampin' Ground, Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse riffs and the marvellous vocals, so damn evil that the dark one stood, looked and ran away. This is true malevolent sickness. "Ephemeral" has some crazed timings, stunning dischordancies and great mid-paced break ups in the chaos. Questions - Explanations - Answers. Thats the formula they seem to work to within riffs, almost story telling in their music. I have commented before about the greatness of My Cross To Bare and how they deserve to be the biggest and most respected -core band in the UK, way above the likes of Stampin' Ground etc... "Maya" stabs through the chest, sharp, harsh, violently, far too powerfully for most of the contenders around and showing the Europeans precisely how it's done, every bit matching the godlike Arkangel in THAT kind of riffing they nicked from Bolt Thrower and Slayer and the melodies of At The Gates and the Swedes. Round all this off with a nice quiet instrumental piece "Alexandria" after all the tortured screams and perfect riffing and we have yet another recording from one of the UK's finest creations. Go listen now. Don't even question. RAWNERVE Webzine Review
