Artist History
An exceptionally tight, emotionally driven, four-piece rock group, Light Beyond Sight originated in October 2001 as a project between music undergraduates Lee Carey (bass)
and Jon Tapping (guitar). Sharing a passion for producing outstanding original music, by creating a new kind of 'production template', the key was to incorporate
the creativity and influences of the whole band and then allow each song to evolve and grow to perfection.
Finding the right vocalist turned out to be easier than expected when powerful session vocalist and lyricist Leah Duors signed up to the project in December.
Still without a drummer a couple of months later, and in the best traditions of all great music collaborations, fate played a hand. A couple of guys had overheard
Lee, JT and Leah's conversation in the local pub and passed them a mobile phone with their friend, and accomplished percussionist, Paul Gorvin on the other end.
With the last jigsaw piece now in place, the first Demo/EP 'When Interest Becomes Addiction' was recorded in March 2002 including the awesome and emotive track 'Fighting'.
With the new production template gradually taking shape, giving the band its own sound, a design consultant was hired to help create an identity and a look
that would not only reflect the music but also be a mirror for it.
With a number of live performances under their belt and now with the culmination of their own sound, style and identity, the band were back in the studio in
October to begin recording the second EP 'Feeding Fires', including some blistering vocals of a 'tattered and torn' style, backed up dense, full-bodied guitar on a
stocky and well-rooted drum and bass foundation. The solid rock tracks 'Tear It Out' and 'Holdin' On' along with the haunting 'Light Beyond Sight' and
compulsive 'It Doesn't Matter' show the group has developed a very commercial sound currently sought after in the resurgent 'new metal' genre. |
