Artist History In the spring of 2001, Kenny Tompkins joined the ranks of some of the most prominent musicians of our time: The college drop out. On returning to his home in Petersburg,Wv, he promptly started a new band (Luminus),recorded an album, toured,wrote an album, recorded and album,and toured some more. but in the spring of 2002, his already high level of musical productivity went through the roof, writing nearly 80 songs in june and july alone. Left with so much material, he was encouraged by his friend, Brian North (200 north) to release a collection of b-sides. Instead he wrote 13 more songs in two weeks, chose 8, and released the collection, "Songs for July", in September of 2002. Now working on songs for his second solo release,(tenatively titiled "hymns"), he plans to begin recording in late december.
