Artist History Les Julys’ Bio (updated) After all the press accolades for the bass playing of Les July (he’s played with everyone from k.d. Lang to Dr.Dre), he re-invented himself. Les released a solo record, “The Gift of Second Sight” which displayed his talents as a singer, songwriter,multi-instrumentalist and producer. While receiving rave reviews for this indie release, he is described in the press as ‘…Seal meets Sting in Strawberry Fields.’ A few notable artists have recently become fans of Les’ music. Kate Bush responded directly to Les with her stamp of approval. She and her response can be seen in the IMAGES link of www.mp3.com/lesjuly. Todd Rundgren liked Les’ music enough to have him open for him at The House of Blues. They maintain a friendship to this day. A song Les wrote called, “The Jeannie Song” led to a one on one meeting with Barbara Eden who made a guest appearance on the track and Les wound up with an authentic Jeannie bottle…(did she give him 3 wishes or what ??) The overall paranormal theme of Les’ CD also led up to Les meeting Shirley Maclaine who said she was intrigued by his knowledge… Through Les’ work with International World music artists, Andy and Shani, and his bi-lingual ability, he has expanded his musical audience culturally as well. It also didn’t hurt that his second single, “ Oh Mari “, remained The Number One Latin Song in LA on Mp3.com for the better part of a year. He even made a guest appearance on the popular Spanish variety show, “Todo Puede Pasar”. In addition to this, Les has made the time to develop his own show. “ On The Fly With Les July “ is a music magazine forum on video. The demo reel, available apon request on CD-Rom, features Les with Stevie Wonder, Slash, Todd Rundgren plus clips of Les in live performance. Les recently shot an interview with Herbie Hancock for the show. Currently, with the release of his NEW CD, “ Eclectic Acoustic “, Les July is making a contribution to an industry that has been lacking in what was once know as ‘quality pop music’. Les has produced 2 records receiving great reviews, opened for many top artists as a solo performer, secured 9 major endorsement deals, received stacks of press in the music trades and has Tower Records carrying his product and he has yet to sign with an agent, manager, publicist or label. Hmmm…
