Artist description ...then the music started ,like someone shouting "sleep." low childbeats ,wet synthplace. all the world goes monochrome with icecolored glitter. we were all little girls before they grew up. the flowers we picked were all just snakes of light reflecting off suburban rainpuddles. we laughed ,at ourselves at last. nothing but style. worrying what if we wake up again? sleepy glitterkids stir when the sleep wears off ,when blocky tones pull to a stop ,the music finishing ,webs of palmgrins letting them go. balloons pop ,safety is fleeting. work at 7:30 morning. the politics of sleep and lying. desperate grabs for. the politics of glitter and kitten stickers.

Artist History devonBRYANT and ryanCONNOR ,who grew up playing guitar in thickly BigMuffed 90s alternarawk bands ,always relished the moment when the song would end and the "weird noises" could start ,often stretching moments of feedback and effectsladen tonal explorations to the limits of listener patience. as they matured ,they each realized that the guitar ,while an exceptional soundsource ,was not the instrument that they heard in their heads ,so each began to explore digital music ,with its blank canvas of possible effects/editing processes. when they met up again after a year apart (CONNOR had moved to Valencia to study film and digital video at CalArts ,BRYANT had begun to study audio production at Seattle.s Art Institute) ,they created the balloon instinct.s first record ,.canarysquaresEP. ,a disc which both acknowledge now could use a little editing. both were galvanized by the sounds they produced ,however ,and that disc redefined the sound concept for LittleGirlEmpire ,the label and mediavision they had created for their rawkband saintSophia years before. at present ,plans still exist to make another balloon disc ,possibly long distance ,probably in the midWest ,but not for a minute or two ,at any rate.
