Artist History
Josh Allen, now 25, started playing by ear at 13. In 1998 he released his first album "Peaceful Dreams", which was performed on a 49-key keyboard and his PC. Since then, his studio has grown to include a Yamaha P-200 Digital Piano. Josh began taking some music theory classes in 1999 to try and give some meaning and meter to his music. Josh recalls: 'I never learned to play piano the right way. I couldn't afford lessons. So I spent 6 years practicing for hours each day. And by God's Grace and help, I've been able to play decently without even understanding what I was playing.' After about 6 months of taking music theory, it was clear that Josh Allen's piano style could not conform to the strict rules of classical piano teachings, so Josh learned what he could (Chords, Keys and meter) and left the rest in the dust. Josh says 'I have no regrets about never taking the time to learn full music theory. Frankly, I don't need it. Listen to my music for yourself and tell me if you don't agree. My musical ability is not limited by what man can teach me. My talent comes from a higher source.' Josh Allen's testimony is that his talent to play piano is God given, and that only through Jesus Christ is he able to perform the songs he writes. |
