Decatur formed in Chicago from the ashes of Moreno, Lupine, and The Pillowmints. The group assembled so quickly and played their first show 3 weeks after forming opening for Evil Beaver at Chicago's Empty Bottle.
Since then, Decatur has played a mini tour up north. the band has opened for Chicago's Local H twice.
