Artist History
Ethan Wendell likes to say that most of his songs are the result of spending too many hours alone in a college dorm with the windows painted black.
Once in the Iowa City punk band 86'd, Wendell moved to New York City to go to college where he quickly felt isolated and began writing songs of a more somber and personal nature that he dubbed "Diary Rock."
When he played some of the songs in small venues he found the response was good and decided to take it up full time.
Now he plays under the name Gravity Shackles, feeling that calling the band after his name might give people the impression that the focus is on him when it should be on the people who would hopefully listen and relate to the songs themselves while also giving him the opportunity to collaborate with some of his friends and other musicians.
Now he's shared the bill with many different bands and genres from Indie Rock and Emo
to Hardcore and Post Hardcore and gotten great reactions from all of the varying crowds. He has released 2 records. 2001's "too young to give up, too old to dream" And 2002's "EP Songs" on his own label FAD PRODUCTIONS and looks forward to working with as many talented people as he can and touring anywhere that will take him. |
