Artist History
Though Synapse Trap's Timothy Buchanan is a behavior therapist for brain injured adults during the day and musician at night, the two worlds are not completely separate. Borrowing from Pythagoras' philosophy of Ethos (i.e.- music affecting mood), Tim finds himself orchestrating the performances of those in rehabilitation by the music used at the facility. "In the classes I teach, I try to accommodate existing moods and at the same time jump start the synapses into firing. So, at the beginning of the week, I use classical and ambient to smooth out the eddies of the student's often rough weekends. By the middle of the week we are listening to jazz and trance to set the academic pace. And by Friday, the students fingers are drumming and their minds are racing to house, trip hop and so on. The pay off is if I neglect to put music on, someone raises their hand and says, Musica, por favor?" The songs included here are engineered by Carey James and mastered by John Trevethan. Buchanan is also the member of the eclectic music groups Tree House and Tombstone Trailerpark. |
