Artist description
The Amazing Zen Blackflies are a 3 piece band from Portland, Maine that plays their own gross misrepresentation of rock, pop, funk and jazz. The Amazing Zen Blackflies play mostly original tunes, but sometimes they'll whip out some Police or Steely Dan or Bowie or something like that just to stir things up.
The Amazing Zen Blackflies are feverishly recording as many songs as they can (Chris H. has written over 200), and torturing as many live audiences as possible with their twisted slant on music. |

Group Members
Chris Hardy is the songwriter/frontman/bassist for the trio and he'd love to trade places with Sting. Chris' songs have won awards in the Billboard Song Contest and have been featured in press & on radio up and down the east coast.
Mike Paige is the guitarist/support vocalist and would love to trade lives with Joe Thornton of the Boston Bruins. Mike has played guitar for over 20 years and brings a jazzy sensibility as well as a certain "circus funk" angle to the music of The Amazing Zen Blackflies.
Chris Marro is The Amazing Zen Blackflies' drummist and wouldn't mind switching places with virtuoso drummer Vinnie Colaiuta (probably just so he could play behind Faith Hill). Chris used to coach a marching band drumline (not so useful for the Blackflies), but he can also rip up a drumset with the best of 'em. |
