Artist description
BLACK LIGHT GURUS hasn't happened yet. I write, sing and play guitar but need other musicians who want to help take this somewhere... With the right drummer, bassist and either a 2nd guitarist or keys player this could be off the ground and stirring up interest... |

Press Reviews
ONLINE REVIEWS:
"This song WHILE YOU CAN absolutely rocks! Each section of the song kicks it into a higher gear than the previous section. Great guitar interplay, great melody and great vocals. [These] guys definitely have talent both as songwriters and performers. I can't wait to hear more..." *****
"Daniel has made some brilliant contributions...his voice surfaces as the aural equivalent of a smoking velvet jacket draped with a sandpaper scarf." *****
"Message to all... Daniel Watkins [of Black Light Gurus] is one of the great unknown talents of Dallas - a great singer/songwriter with the voice of the anti-Creed." *****
"I think these songs are very good for demos. Down To This almost seems like a meeting of American indie pop/60s pre-punk garage rock with a hint of Richard Butler (Psychedelic Furs) in the vocals. While You Can is very cool and smooth - great song, possibly the best of these songs and reminiscent of the Verve as well as various other British bands. Summer Century Meltdown is mindbending lyrically and of course in the guitar effects and almost Bowie-ish during the chorus. In Balance Again… underground minimalist rock with an almost funk bass. The only time I’d probably ever like this style bass in a song but it pulls the song in just the right way. Despite my dropping names of these older greats, I think [these songs] definitely have a contemporary edge also, a cool combination of old and new influences. I would like to hear what others think of this stuff as word gets out about BLACK LIGHT GURUS…" *****
