Artist History
Dear Dancefloor,
We are what you have always wanted from music. We are the past, present, and future. We searched until we found something to hold onto. We are 4, we are 1. We are instruments. We are pianos without c-notes. We live for the ethereal. We are influenced -Who isn’t? We listen to everything. We listen to silence. We don’t want limitations, but we know that walls will be put up. Our 2+2’s = 5. We want hip- hop, we want Jazz, we want Rock, we want honesty. We have a canvas. We make the paints. We have conceit. We have convictions. We are the absence of light. We are colors combined. We want you to open your ears. We want a chance. We want exposure. We want to be palatable. We want to kill “pop punk”. We are hypocritical assholes. We’re presumptuous. We have the passion. We want your brains. ‘We must be absolutely modern.’ We are marching to a different beat. We are Christiansen.
Sincerely, Stylish Nihilists

Press Reviews
Kerrang - July 13, 2002
Post Hardcore with soul, passion and melodic genius.
IT's INEVITABLE that some people are going to compare Christiansen to At-the-Drive-In. After all, they have the same bizarre sense of structure, rampant energy, and willingness to experiment sonically within a post-hardcore groove that made Cedric and co such a breath of pure, invigorating air. However, seeing as how ATD-I never really got to live up to their original promise and have now split into two-lesser-groups (Sparta and The Mars Volta), Christiansen have risen to the challenge of pushing the hardcore envelope open that little bit further in order to see what drops out.
Opening track "Jhazz Never Spelled So Good," for instance, sound like the classic Dischord Records group Jawbox but put through a contemporary sonic blender, while throughout this whole EP there's an air of sophistication and excitement that comes from a band on the bring of some serious music discoveries. Join them.

I had the great pleasure of seeing these cats when Elliott came to Buffalo. We were in a cafŽ talking to Chris and he was letting us know how much we needed to see this band. Chris, we never got a chance to thank you, they ruled.
Christiansen shares the qualities of some of our favorite bands here at bedlam. Fugazi, At the Drive In, Thursday and Handsome. They were absolutely amazing and to receive this disc made me feel, well, wet (note to Revelation, please warn us you are sending us packages so we can purchase Depends, I can't keep buying new underwear).
So I put this bad boy in on one of my many drives to Toronto. Let's just say I had a great rock concert. This disc captured what I remember about them. What I remember was "Shit this is a really good band, I better thank Chris for telling us to check them out".
The only thing that is a pisser is that it is only six songs, I want more, I need more. So Christiansen, since when did you start dictating what I need? What, are you some kind of councilor? I don't need rehabilitation; I just need some more f'in songs! Come on, maybe even just one more.
