    Artist History
In middle school, Chrissy was the soloist in the school choir, known by her teachers as "the girl who sang". Not exactly the model child, in high school Chrissy wound up in boarding school. She taught herself to play guitar, sang with the boy's rock band, formed an acoustic duo, and played bass for the girl's rock band. Her senior year, she graduated with honors and the award for Best Musician. Chrissy went on to Humboldt State and began writing and performing her own songs. She left school to follow the Grateful Dead stating, "College can't teach me to write a song! Only life's experience can give me that!" In 1993, she met a deadhead in Las Vegas. He called her Sister Soul and it's been her name ever since. After years on the road, she came home to Marin County. While playing at a Fairfax café in 1995, she met legendary guitarist Steve Kimock. He took to sitting in with her and they became good friends. Acoustic Sister Soul soon went electric and began performing with a full band, also singing with Steve's bands, Zero and Steve Kimock and Friends. Kimock took her to recording sessions, rehearsals, and gigs. He taught her more than music, he taught her how to be a musician.

    Press Reviews
REVIEWS RELIX MAGAZINE June-July 2002 issue www.relix.com Sister Soul is featured in ARTISTS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT by Mick Skidmore on page 28 Laytonville, California: If you were to look at the all-star cast of players on Sister Soul's debut album Love Rules, you'd most likely be duly impressed. It includes Steve Kimock, Chip Roland, Martin Fierro, and Barry Sless. Despite the obvious talents of the aforementioned, their presence is perhaps the last reason you'd want to listen to this disc. First and foremost it's a showcase for singer/songwriter Christina Lynne Colangelo, aka Sister Soul. She is a blonde and blue-eyed vocalist who is equal parts soul and passion; she sings her songs in a powerful voice as if she means every word. One listen to the sultry soul of "Make Love to You" or the sweet country/soul of "Take Me Home" and you should be hooked. Sister Soul is a modern day vocalist with a touch of Janis Joplin mixed with some Bonnie Raitt, and Linda Ronstadt and she's a Deadhead to boot! This is a highly enjoyable album from a refreshing artist who certainly deserves more recognition. The rest is up to you.
