Artist description Biartz is typically classified as progressive metal. The more adventurous listener may take pleasure in other features of their music such as intricate rhythms that swing, and phrase breaks often associated with jazz. Equally influenced by hardcore and metal, punk and doom, jazz and fusion, classical and different world music, members of the New Haven/NYC based quartet have come together to create something vaguely characteristic of all these types of music without sounding totally specific to any.

Artist History The word, Biartz, has no inherent meaning, outside of what these four musicians create as a musical entity. Biartzıs music is a synthesis of their musical interests coupled with their perceptions of the world they all live in, internally and externally. As a band, theyıre projecting their vision of the universe through fresh, aggressive music. They provide the listener with inspirational music, and thoughtful lyrics geared at invoking an introspective state. Biartz feels their inspiration is extracted from the collective unconscious of heavy music purveyors, like the Melvins, Meshuggah, Neurosis, and Tool, who also chose to define their existence by picking up their instruments and rocking the ears of whoever was listening. Biartz too will mold their definitive realm through a prolific, life-long career of producing substantial music. Along with their varied music and personalities, every member feels extremely privileged to have shared the stage with a number of diverse acts ranging from Relapse recording artists Dillinger Escape Plan and Burnt By the Sun, to Hydraheadıs Cave In and Harkonen, to BWRıs Cancer Conspiracy, to Escape Artistıs Anodyne, to independent free music giants, Iceburn, among many other punk rock notables. Amidst their busy schedule of touring and playing live regionally, Biartz also had a chance to record two albums, Intimations and Antinomy Sessions, with producer Kurt Ballou of Converge. Keep your ears to the ground because Biartz will be touring the US in the summer of 2002. They also continue to pursue interests in different areas of music performance and production while intently focusing on writing more material for their upcoming full length titled Gestalt Language. Biartz also has other projects in the works, including a Mahavishnu Orchestra tribute album with acts such as Japanıs Ruins
