Artist History Springsville is a rhythm collective from Long Island working to combine elements of jazz, traditional ska & reggae, afro-cuban, latin, and drum & bass using electronics, samples, and modern editing techniques. Their distinctive music brings together trance grooves with varied textures, colorful rhythms and melodies, achieving a sophisticated sonic blend of influences. Springsville was formed in 2002 and features saxophonist and composer Matthew Voss, drummer Glenn Hackett, bassist Tom Mcgee, guitarist Ben Klingberg, with special guests such as saxophonist and flautist Dan Voss, and trombonist James Burton. The members of Springsville continue to challenge themselves and their art with a forward-looking approach to jazz, maintaining spontaneity and improvisation while exploring the creative possibilities of the electronic environment.
