Music Style
Hell, I don't know...how about an interesting mix of 70's rock, country, and pop (not the Britney kind), and if you listen hard enough, a little blues is in there too. |

Artist History
Chris Holcombe is an exciting, new songwriter to the music scene. As a musician, he has had many amazing experiences including co-writing with famed songwriter Michael McDonald and performing in Carnegie Hall in New York City. He has done numerous Youth Prepatory Choirs in Louisville, KY, and was a part of the National Junior High Honors Choir in 1997 held in San Diego. During his high school years, he performed in Middle Tennessee's Freshman Honors Choir in 2000, was placed Fifth Chair in Middle Tennessee's All-State Choir in 2001, was involved in a 12 person vocal ensemble. He has performed in several school musicals and in the Pulltight Players production of "Oklahoma." He has also performed at local coffeehouses, Douglas Corner, and the famous Bluebird Cafe, and he single handedly started the songwriting category in the Artist Guild, a school sponsored organization that recognizes excellence and superiority in the Arts.
He has been seriously writing songs since he was 13 years old. His songwriting is influenced by the works of Bonnie Raitt, Delbert McClinton, Linda Ronstadt, Mark Selby, Kim Richey, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Chris Isaak, and Carole King. When he was only in the eighth grade, his work was featured in a songwriting anthology titled "On The Road," a publication that showcases lyrical excellence. He also has two songs featured on fellow singer-songwriter Kristen Cothron's album "Only Words." He is a member of ASCAP and will soon return to being a member of NSAI, (as soon as he scrapes enough money together.)
Currently, he's studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston, majoring in Songwriting and Music Business. He has just finished recording a collection of original material titled "Settin' The Moon On Fire," which is sold on www.cdbaby.com.

"With an interesting mix of styles and rhythms Chris Holcombe delivers a CD that everyone can enjoy. Great tunes like Strange, Settin the Moon on Fire, and Listen to the Children make it obvious that this strong writer has a bright future ahead of him."
"This is really awesome music!! Keep up the great work!! Rock On!!"
"Good stuff. Recording quality sounds professional. My favorite is "Strange" because it has the best vocal performance. But they all sound good."
"Nice track, sweet blues guitar at times. The vocals were well done, nice production. Overall a good track." (refers to song "Black Tuesday")
"I listened to 'Strange.' My first response is 'slick'. Excellent production, excellent execution and nice song. Very good all round. If I had to be critical I would say your singing was a little bit reserved. It sounded a little bit like you were holding back but that's very picky!" (9/10)
"Hook-3 (I really expected an exploding powerful chorus section, and what I got was a little "strange". You definitely played away from tradition here)
Structure-5 (This song was very well put together, I wouldn't change anything)
Melody-4 (This is a beautiful melody, and the soft background vocal adds a great texture to the chorus and outro sections)
Emotion-4 (Something tells me the artist is holding back in this song, just a little, but it was enough)
OVERALL SCORE=16
Thank you for posting such a beautiful melody. It reminded me a little bit like a Christopher Cross kind of song (not a bad thing). The piano in this song really stood out, and added alot to the overall feeling." (refers to the mp3 "Strange.")
