Artist History
Under the direction of Cyril MacDonald and J.D. MacNeil, The Dry Heeves are an electronic / alternative music group from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia (Canada). Their meditatively eccentric compositions can be overwhelming at first, but once assimilated, they become invigorating, cleansing, genuinely hilarious and frequently gratifying. ----------------------------------------
In late 2001 they released a retrospective of early material entitled Mysterium Iniquitatis. In August 2002 The Dry Heeves were honoured with a spot on Crunch Fly Records' From Far and Wide compilation CD. Around the same time the band also released a special EP of new material called Radio Prog. As a tribute to their life-long interest in shortwave listening, the EP was targeted for eastern Europe and is not currently available domestically. ----------------------------------------
In September 2002 The Dry Heeves released a full-length CD of new material, Mockba Rockba, available only in Russia. In October 2002 the band released a CD EP entitled Mektoub !, featuring cuts from the upcoming album as well as bonus tracks exclusive to this release. And on January 1, 2003, the new full-length album, Everything's Gone Pseudo, was officially released. A splendid time is guaranteed for all! ----------------------------------------
"The Dry Heeves take musical bits from cultures around the world, and try to find ways to put them together in which no one else would. Some tracks are intended to be pure silliness, but others take on a more serious feel and attempt to make strong statements. It gives a breadth and depth to what they are doing in an experimental genre that is often overlooked. Shifting from jungle, to hip-hop, to folk, to metal, to ambient intermingled with touches of noise, Everything's Gone Pseudo takes the listener on a bizarre journey that is laughable, disturbing, and strange."
