Artist History
Alma formed in 1995 in Granada, Spain by Anna Mogren and Frida Eklund. After a couple of years 'playing-in-the-wardrobe' they joined up with Jonas Olsson from Uppsala’s best country band, Able. Anna and Frida write all lyrics and music, and they both play a bit of everything: guitar, bass, piano, banjo and harmonica. Occasionally they’re joined by Erik Hellqvist on his violin.
Alma is a frequent live act. Some places they've recently played are: Katalin, Fredmans, Östgöta & Kalmar Nation in Uppsala; Mos ebacke (Woody), Hannas
Krog, Gallerian, Softore & Nightlife in Stockholm; Facfrontfestivalen in Piteå; Valencia & New York (The Livingroom, Ulrika's, The Sidewalk Café).
Alma have supported Grass Show, Ryman Trio and Rezonance in Sweden;
La Habitación R oja in Spain; and The Lucksmiths & Darren Hanlon in Australia.
In November 2002, Alma will tour Australia again, thanks to a scholarship from STIM.
In January 2001 they signed up with publishing company Misty Music.
The debut album 'For Loved Ones a nd Lost Ones' will be released by Dead Frog Records in September 2002. The unique thing about the album is the way they recorded it. Every single note is recorded on analog equipment at Up and Running Recordings in Hagsätra.
No digital processing or reco r di ng equipment was used, and that was a demand from Alma, to work in the old-fashioned way and get a unique sound. The album is produced by Alma.
Since July 2002 Alma have been working with Dead Frog Records. The distributor of their debut album is Bonnier/Amigo. |
