Artist History
The idea of the band first started with Jacob Baker. Back in the mid 1990's, the days when they were Junior High students, was hanging out over at the house of Andrew Sorensen one day (as he often did)and saw that Andrew had an electric guitar in his room. Jacob thought that was pretty cool and got Andrew to teach him a few chords (which was the extent of Andrew's ability at that point in time).
With their mutual friend Jason, they decided to form a band, known as Shocking Bad Mountain. Due to a lack of drummer, the band never materilized. TO make things worse, Jacob moved away. It occured to Andrew that the way the band needed to move was to get recording equipment, and just play all the pars with just two people.
Toward the end of high school , Jason and Andrew had a falling out, and went there seperate ways.
Although Andrew and JAcob were seperated for years, they still remained in close contact, and they never let the idea of the band fade. In the very beginning of 2002, Jacob moved back to Utah, and took residency with Andrew for several months.
Andrew took up employment at Musicians Friend, and began to stockpile gear, until August of 2002, when he finally had a decent home studio in which he could make his recordings.
Andrew is the bulk of Somthing Fierce, while he often draws upon the insiriation of Jacob for song ideas and lyrics |
