Artist description
Whether you are a punk rocker or a pop enthusiast, Ocean Diesel delivers a radio-ready ear-pleasing package in which youll open to find catchy lyrics and jump around rifts.
Crazy Sunshine is get-on-your-feet good, and each extraordinary note is encrusted with Jay Burnetts melodious lead vocals.
Their punk influences such as Green Day and American Hi-Fi are prevalent in this song, but understated by the original flair that guitarists Ewan Ashford and James McGuire offer up.
Everything In Me shines with elements of a rock ballad and a punk rock prose. The song itself is stimulating, evoking feelings of happiness and joy while maintaining its rock-worthiness. The music is heart felt, the rhythm section of Davie Treanor and Jared Ralston intensifying with emotion, rising up and rocking out again and again.
Beguiling and unbelievably original Ocean Diesel seals the deal with their very own stamp of Scottish approval.

Artist History
The original foundations for Ocean Diesel were laid just over a year ago when long-time friends Jay Burnett, Davie Treanor and Jared Ralston left their respective bands and collaborated to form OD. With all their past experience and determination working for them, the results were a potent mix of college-rock harmonies and power-pop melodies all wrapped up in a refreshingly radio friendly shell.
Within months, they had written roughly a dozen first-rate songs and were confident that their sound would prove to be a hit. They werent interested in fame or money; they just wanted to create music and make people smile.
The band went into the studio to record 2 tracks with Larry Primrose (Teenage Fanclub): Biting @ The Kerb and I Fought The Law. The latter track, a retro punk cover, was being recorded as part of a feature in UK lads magazine, Front. The revamped Sonny Curtis tune will be featured on the soundtrack to the British movie Hell To Pay, released by Universal, this year.
Upon adding Ocean Diesel to the soundtrack, the interest in the band rocketed in the UK and the band went on a roller-coaster ride of press articles and shows. However, after a few months the band was no closer to signing a deal, so Ocean Diesel looked across the Atlantic, to the USA for inspiration. They returned to the studio to record new material driven by an American muse. This time Brian McNeil (Mull Historical Society) at Gravity Studios, Glasgow recorded 5 new tracks: Everything In Me, Dirty Water, Space, Crazy Sunshine and Now Or Never. With 5 new tracks in hand, Ocean Diesel was ready to see how America would respond to their music, and a response is what they got!
Within weeks of the initial recordings, the Ocean Diesel Mp3.com site had received over a 1,000 hits. They had found their audience! The USA had responded so well to the music, but not just the USA, the band began to track hits in the UK and on every continent across the globe. However the overall response to their songs in the USA was phenomenal. Unbeknown to Ocean Diesel, Ocean Red International, a southwestern Public Relations firm, based in Arizona stumbled across the bands site and was instantly attracted to their sound. As a marketing company, they saw a product that they wanted to introduce to the industry: Scottish guys in a punk band who could potentially blow the music industry away. ORI contacted Ocean Diesel and within a few weeks they had drawn up an approach that they hoped would put them on the road to musical success.
Achieving that success proved harder than was originally thought, ORI and the band were unable to meet each others objectives, and the band parted ways with them four months later. However, in that time, Ocean Diesels stock rose highly in the USA where more and more people were listening to them via the Internet and more significantly, college radio stations. The band made many contacts overseas through a series of visits to the States where they hope to tour in the near future.
Since the initial opening of their MP3.com site, the band has received over 9,000 hits worldwide covering over 70 countries. An overwhelming percentage of their fan base lies in America, with the UK, Canada, Japan, Western Europe and Australia following suite.
Over the last year the band has gone through a succession of guitarists as they searched to find both stability and compatibility. With the arrival of Ewan Ashford and James McGuire the assemblage is now complete. The band is currently in the studio rehearsing for their forthcoming tour of Scotland and they will commence work on their debut album, Slick which will be released early next year.
Ocean Diesel is, as yet, an unsigned band. Their intentions of looking for a management deal are not surpassed by their firm belief in DIY. Their faith in their ability to promote their name across the globe, and their hard work and resolve is an exceptional example to bands everywhere pursing the musical vision.
