Artist description
Ingredients: Take Phish, The Barenaked Ladies and REM- throw them into a blender. Pour into chilled container and enjoy. Largely acoustic guitar-based pop rock jam music.
This is a band struggling to express the fire within- coming to terms with their inextinguishable passion and love for soulful musical expression, and succeeding humbly with each new composition. The melodies are always surprisingly fresh and strong- instantly memorable. The rhythms are a marriage of assertive plectral steelstringed tautness, and groove-ridden life-animating drum-force.The energy confronts the listener immediately. The lyrics are thought-prodding. The singers voice is not overbearing or showy, but unique and unmistakably earnest. There is no pretention here. Here is honest songwriting, honest musicianship, honest striving to express the invisible. Halogen.05 is light, is illumination for the giant thoughts within trying to get out and shine until no effort is needed.

Artist History
Formed in November of 2001. Two musicians-one of them Canadian- with music burning in their souls meet almost by chance in San Francisco. With no intentions other than to witness an unfoldment, curiosity draws them together for a jam in a historical buildings' boiler room. Nothing could unstop the spirit that would escape this genie's bottle. A chemical reaction caused an explosion of creativity. It became a spare-time consuming passion. An album was born, a vision was agreed upon, markers were set, peaks were assessed, and equipment gathered. The debut cd is an achievement- a joint product born into the world to live its own life. Will it succeed? Can it hold its own? Will it rise past the less worthy- overcoming the tyranny of commercialism? Honest songs, honest music, honest guys. Where will this take them? |
