Artist description
Areesh are Des Wade and Ralf Schmidt who write music, songs and poetry inspired by Celtic legends. Areesh is the phonetic spelling of the Gaelic word 'arís' which means 'again' or 'encore'. It reflects the idea that musical and lyrical inspiration is constantly being re-discovered and that the power of Celtic legends still resonates.

Artist History
Irish-born Des Wade has lived in Australia for over 20 years. As a songwriter and lyricist he has received awards and commendations from the Adelaide-based and internationally recognised SCALA (Songwriters Composers and Lyricists Association). In working on the Areesh album "Song Shall Arise", Des has realised a long-time ambition to develop song ideas based on the tradition of Celtic myths and stories; several of these songs feature choruses or introductions spoken or sung in the Gaelic language.
Ralf Schmidt comes from Berlin, Germany where he toured extensively arranging, composing and playing music with various theatre groups. After some years as a member of the R&B band Interzone (who were signed to the Warner label) he eventually went to England and worked with Glyn Johns and Joe Strummer. In 1985 Ralf moved to Adelaide where he has received recognition from SCALA for original compositions performed and recorded by his group Trotter and Burchell. Since that group disbanded, Ralf has continued to compose and now also teaches music. |

"A project from the heart by a pair of believers wanting to share their vision. The tone is earnest with an underlying Irish sense of drama.....It's worth a listen"
