Artist History
Formed in November of 2001, STRAIT LACED began
their journey as a garage band in the garage of
drummer Seth Antonitis. Making music was just a
hobby, and at the time they were known as Misfire.
After what seemed an eternal break from jamming,
the band refocused this time and reformed again
as Spazm. Playing their first show, they failed
to accomplish any goals that they had set forth,
which brought them back to the drawing board…and
to a new band name.
Following Spazm’s demise, the group came back as
Black Sun Conspiracy and picked up former
guitarist and good friend Seth Hagerty
(formerly of Chamber 45). Playing one show as BSC,
they new that they wanted to continue on their
journey. After parting ways with one guitarist,
the foursome went into the studio to create a
five-song demo titled “Unscarred”. Hitting out
on the scene, they began playing venues in
Providence and other local scenes.
Summer of 2002 brought yet another guitarist,
but after some differences, the band parted ways.
Making more of a name for themselves, they began
playing shows with local favorites Kancer Hed,
Sever, Pray 4 Nothing, Overfiend and Ripwikit.
However, one show would shake the world of
STRAIT LACED forever.
At a cold February show at the LIVING ROOM,
STRAIT LACED was scheduled to play with a band
they had never been with before, AFRAID TO FACE.
There they met a group of talented musicians,
but their front man stuck out more then the rest
(probably because of his wild hair and numerous
piercings). Both bands liked eachother’s styles
and exchanged contact info for shows. Not really
thinking much of it, the band once again performed
at the LIVING ROOM and once again ran into the
same pierced singer they had seen before. And
just for fun, STRAIT LACED asked the kid to come
up on stage and sing their new song, “Bury Me”.
Once again, words were exchanged and the band
decided that the AFRAID TO FACE singer should be
invited to the studio for the song he performed
with the band. So AJ, AFRAID TO FACE’s front man,
thought the idea sounded pretty damn good. That
wasn’t all though. After a few practices and
discussions, it was decided that there was
something in the atmosphere, and STRAIT LACED
asked AJ to join the crew.
Heading into the studio, STRAIT LACED released
their new venture “Pierced Heart, Bleeding Soul”
and prepared for their biggest show yet, Battle
of the Bands at the Worcester Palladium. After
what seemed an eternity, STRAIT LACED took the
stage and performed a grueling 30-minute set in
front of an endless sea of adrenaline filled
fans and left the stage to applause that shook
the rafters. And the other great part about it?
They had sold out of their CD within their set.
When the smoke cleared after 12+ hours of
competition, STRAIT LACED was crowned victorious,
receiving 16 hours of free recording time, which
they plan to use to bring out an even better
sound.
Looking forward to the future, STRAIT LACED
continues to push the boundaries of sound and
break through to newer audiences. Always rising
to the occasion and always willing to go great
length to have their music heard, this band out
of Southern Mass continues to gain momentum on
it’s way to the goal in which they have set for
themselves. A new family has been created, which
they share that relationship with those in the
crowd, and is ready to continue making music
that fans can enjoy themselves to while listening.
