Artist History
The year was 1986 and Greg, at the age of 15, purchased his first electric guitar from a friend for $20. Then he spent a lot of time practicing guitar...listening to music...practicing singing...listening to more music...writing songs...listening some more... writing more songs, and generally just trying to gain an understanding of music.
And for the record, those first songs were pretty bad.
Somewhere along the line Greg moved on to making bad recordings of those "pretty bad songs" on boom boxes and borrowed equipment and getting really excited about it.
Along the way he met musicians, jammed with musicians, formed bands, got a little bit better equipment, played gigs, played covers, played originals and dreamed big dreams.
Eventually it was 1991 and he formed a band and recorded and released an album on cassette-only which was recorded in a band member's basement on not-so-state-of-the-art equipment. Then in support of the album, the band played some gigs, added a member, swapped a member, wrote more songs, and sold the cassette as best they could, with smiles on their faces.
From 1993 to 1994, the band recorded and released "Lost Again" which they put out independently on CD and Cassette. Greg invested a lot of money on a real studio and real packaging in the hopes of "making it big". They played some gigs, lost some band members, found some new ones but the release went largely unnoticed. By the Spring of 1996, Greg had lost some of his drive and decided to call it quits, for awhile. He was able to recoup some of the financial investment but chalked the rest up to a learning experience and continued to dream big dreams while working on career options.
Through the mid to late nineties, Greg continued to spend time writing songs, singing and playing guitar whenever time and life would allow. He dabbled in recording demos of the songs and spent time listening to other musicians he admired, continuing to learn the craft. He eventually invested in some quality home gear, aided by the low cost/high quality of the technology of the digital desktop revolution. Sometime in the year 2000 he began making serious attempts at getting the best songs recorded the way they were meant to be. Now here they are, released on "Is This Really Prison". |
