Artist History
At 22 years of age Cameron Thomas may well be on his way to becoming one of the top music producer/remix artists in the electronic music industry. Although his interest in music production only began 3 years ago, it’s hard to distinguish between Cameron’s music and that of an industry veteran. His talent has not gone unrecognized and after airing one of Cameron’s songs on Detroit radio station 93.1 WDRQ air personality Tic Tak referred to him as “The next Armand Van Helden.” Cameron’s determination, ambition and talent may eventually put him amongst the ranks of such artists. If you haven’t guessed by now Cameron’s genre of choice is house and his arsenal of funky-fueled tracks are enough to make anyone who hears them struggle to sit still.
After ending a partnership, Cameron is ready to set out on his own. Currently, he is working on tracks to put together a 12 inch for independent release. Although hard at work on his music, Cameron’s focus is largely on promotion and marketing himself to the right people. Cameron is compiling a demo of past and present work. The demo will become apart of the press kit he is working on to spark some interest in labels and distributors. Cameron is determined to be heard and doing most anything he can to promote his name and the music that stands behind it.
Considering the short amount of time Cameron has been producing, his accomplishments exceeded his own and others’ expectations. Over the last year and a half, Cameron has had numerous songs aired on several corporate owned radio stations. Detroit radio station 93.1 WDRQ (ABC Radio) was the first. Cameron managed to have 5 total songs aired and 3 different songs played back to back 3 weeks in a row. His music was used in numerous advertisements for clubs and also used as voiceover beds and still is currently by Man at Large who holds the 7 to midnight timeslot weekdays on 93.1. Cameron has also managed to have songs aired on WDRQ rival 95.5 WKQI (Clear Channel Inc.) and 102.1 WIOQ (Clear Channel Inc.) out of Philadelphia.
Cameron’s other accomplishments include establishing a partnership with Detroit Music Award winner Dj Marquis to release his first 12 inch record on Nuflava/Mixx Flava Records. Although a small pressing, the record has done very well. Receiving airplay on all 3 radio stations mentioned above and featured on 93.1 WDRQ’s DRQ dance show. The record has been played by many local and international djs. Included on this list of international acts is Terrence Parker who took the Cameron and Marquis collaboration to another level when he dropped it at the Detroit Taste Fest. This record was only in stores a short amount of time before it was gobbled up off the shelves. Cameron expects the same results from his future releases.
Cameron Thomas is a man with a vision. His primary objective is to rebuild the appreciation for electronic music itself. He feels that the scene has been tainted and would like to be in a position to make positive changes. Cameron’s ambition and determination may not be enough to single handedly revolutionize the electronic music scene but with help from other artists, djs, media, party kids and club goers a revolution may be well on it’s way.
