Artist History
Tomell Brown was born on May 18, 1976 in Syracuse, New York. He is 26 years of age and now lives in Decatur, Georgia. Tomell Brown is a Gospel Singer and Songwriter. Tomell Brown has been singing ever since he was 2 years of age. He discovered that he had a unique gift when he sang his first solo in church at age 5. People in the audience began to cry while he was singing, and when he finished, the church congregation gave him a standing ovation and began to rejoice. That performance sparked many invitations to sing at churches, talent shows, and other events locally in his hometown of Syracuse, New York. Tomell has also been writing songs since 9 years of age. Tomell is a Minister at Refreshing Church of God in Christ and President of the Committed to Christ Organization in Decatur, Georgia. Tomell was also a member of the Morris Brown College Gospel Choir and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the same school.
Some of Tomell’s major music achievements were winning the 1997 best soloist award at the Southern Georgia Church of God in Christ Music Convention. Tomell has won the Student Support Services Performing Arts Award during the 1998-1999 school year and the 1999-2000 school year at Morris Brown College. Tomell has performed twice as a featured guest on TV-57 Atlanta Live in February and April of 2001. His most recent accomplishment was winning 1st place in the Dunbar Neighborhood Center Talent Show on June 2, 2001. Tomell has also received a certificate of achievement award in 1998 from the Billboard Song Contest for the song he wrote “I’m Lost Without Your Love.”
Tomell has been influenced and inspired by artists such as: Commissioned, The Winans, Dawkins & Dawkins, New Edition, Jodeci, Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight, R. Kelly, and Joe. Tomell Brown sings Gospel with an R&B, Hip-Hop style of music. The lyrical content of the songs that he writes are personal testimonies, and life experiences that God has brought him through. Tomell’s main goal as a singer and songwriter is to encourage the youth to establish a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He endeavors to reach those people who don’t have knowledge of God and who are not in the body of Christ. However, at the same time he wants to encourage the saints of God who are in the church, young and old, to continue living holy and to be strong in this journey of life.
