Artist description
With their sun-kissed, tropical rock sound that shines brightly through solid songwriting, superb musicianship, a lighthearted island attitude and on-stage antics, Knoxville, Tennessee's St. Somewhere has established themselves as one of the premier purveyors of Caribbean-style rock in the U.S.
The four-piece act rides on the driving rhythms of Trinidad & Tobago native Quincy Yeates' steel drums, complemented by guitarist and high-spirited front man, Matt Hall, working within the framework of the collective groove engineered by drummer Kevin Wiley and bassist Aram Takvoryan; all seamlessly sailing along the shores of Island-infected sounds and a variety of musical genres, including reggae, calypso, pop and rock'n'roll; accentuated by the collective vocal offerings of all four members.

Artist History
Formed in 1997, St. Somewhere came together as a result of a chance encounter between Yeates and Hall at a bar near the campus of the University of Tennessee. Yeates, an acclaimed pianist, vocalist and steel drum player from the Caribbean islands of Trinidad & Tobago, had moved to the United States to attend the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Hall was a singer/songwriter who for years mixed his academic efforts with gigs ranging from a residency at an Irish pub in Chicago to performing acoustically at various venues around Knoxville. Desiring lives as full-time musicians, rather than students, Hall and Yeates seized the opportunity to form the band, bringing together Yeates' Caribbean influences and Hall's singer/songwriter roots and penchant for Jimmy Buffett-style musical flair. |

Press Reviews
"St. Somewhere has garnered the respect of Jimmy Buffett and his fans, the Parrotheads." - Knoxville News Sentinel
"They are the ultimate Parrothead's dream" - Knoxville News Sentinel
"The band's most recent album, self-titled, follows a similar formula as the group's previous efforts -- smooth, jam-oriented music with Caribbean highlights, thanks to Yeates' steel-drum playing, along with acoustic guitarist Matt Hall's smooth tenor, Kevin Wiley's drumming and Aram Takoryan's loping, rock-steady bass lines." - The Daily Times
"Close your eyes and think: cool breeze, the slight smell of salt water in the air, steel drums in the background, and your favorite cerveca or umbrella-topped cocktail. The sounds of the Far South come to the hills of the Deep South with their use of island beats, rock attributes, and a little swinging blues in a manner unique only to St. Somewhere." - Enigma Music Magazine |
