Artist description The band SPLEN hail from the murky mists of deepest Scotland. Consisting of Lord Christopher Bowes and wise Stuart Jhon Finnie, they have been finely honing their unique brand of extreme music since they formed in late 2000. Initially united by a shared love of MIDI, they soon began creating original MIDI sequences, to distribute to anyone pathetic enough to accept them. A unique sense of humour seemed to mix with the early MIDI noises and this cemented Splen as a cutting edge musical act.

Artist History A history of Splen, taken from the ancient and glorious Splenographic Lexicon: Three MIDI albums were released in the floppy disk format: 'Alternative Goaps', 'Richard and Judy hath Fallen over Twice' and 'Splendiferous'. All three released through the largely made-up Alternative Goaps record label. The relevance of these albums must not be underestimated, as many songs, and many more ideas have been developed into the Splen we see before us today. A collection of MIDIs were recorded into cassette format and marketed as 'The Ascension into Splendour', which proclaimed the mighty songwriting power of Splen with the multitude of musical genres contained therein/ Following this release, Splen massively branched out into the multi-faceted extreme musical beast of recent times. Splen continue to make MIDIs but there are no plans for imminent MIDI releases at this date. New songs will be added to the downloads page. Splen are now blasting cataclysmically into the future with a myriad new projects. First of all, '14 Blasts of Thrilling Grind', a no frills Grindcore EP intended to kick some of the chart-metal chancers into shape. Also in the works is a Black/Power Metal opus (title T.B.C.), an ambitious and conceptual exploration of dragons and eagles. Stay tuned, faithful minions, and in years to come may your ears be bombarded by the omnipotent cacophony of sound that is SPLEN!
