Artist History Mary Devlin was a folksinger for many years before she discovered medieval and Renaissance music - but once she discovered them, there was no going back. She threw herself wholeheartedly into the study of theory, performance and history of early music, and put aside her guitar in favor of period instruments such as the lute, gittern, harp, and Welsh crwth. (And she's not through yet!) As director of the Sherwood Consort and author of MEDIEVAL MUSIC, MAGICAL MINDS, she is well known in the field of medieval music, and hopes to help bring it more into the mainstream. "The music of the Middle Ages wasn't just Gregorian chant and long, tedious ballads," she says. "The Middle Ages rocked!
