Artist History
Maida is a heavy math rock band from San Jose California. They formed in June of 2002 out of a desire to make music. Maida takes cues from genre-defining bands like Botch, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Converge, but also references a broader, more eclectic pool of artists, such as Radiohead, Coldplay, jazz pianist Brad Mehldau, and Icelandic atmospherists Sigur Ros. The members of Maida look outside music for further inspiration; life experiences, art in all mediums, and surrounding environments figure heavily into lyrics, and fuel the passion released on stage. Maida plans to tour as much as possible, record a debut ep, and keep progressing as friends and musicians. |
