Artist description
Long Since Dark is a band of many faces. This band was created to combine the elements of Doom and Gothic metal with those of more popular metal bands of the time. After two years of writing and record an album of pure doom metal emerged. This would be the self titled debut. This album is full epic songs with tons of melody. The purpose of Long Since Dark is to blend underground elements in with the mainstream to create something emotional and real. Melody is the key and emotion is the driving force of this band. Long Since Dark choose to go beyond the traditional doom metal sound and add elements of many other forms of music to create something original and inspiring. From the eerie and dark opening track "Shadows" to the haunting melancholy title track there is not one moment without emotion. The purpose of the band is to create emotion and to tell stories using music as well as words. Our intention is to not only make you enjoy the song but to take you within the song as if you were there. We are not afraid to try and recreate the genre that was set in stone years ago by the likes of My Dying Bride and Paradise Lost and bring back the original feelings that made it so great. We aspire to creat masterpieces that will live up to albums like "Turn Loose The Swans" and "Icon". That is what sets us apart from many is the fact that we are not afraid to write as we please and to create the music we want. We have no restrictions and no guidelines. Our influences are many and you will hear them all. We feel variety is what keeps listeners interested. Another key element to Long Since Dark is the fact that all Long Since Dark music is free. Yes you can purchase our cd from mp3.com if you would like but we will always have every release in full to download free. Long Since Dark is not in it to make money or to even get a record contract but just to be heard. Long Since Dark has arrived and the debut release is finally out, so enjoy. |

Artist History
Long Since Dark was formed from the ashes of Soul Inquisition. Founding and sole member Mark Rapture grew tired of Black and Death metal and wanted to expand. Feeling that he did all he could with Soul Inquisition he disbanded it after the acclaimed "In Darkness They Hunt" release. Work on this new band began shortly after the release of the final Soul Inquisition album. The band was to blend elements of underground doom and gothic bands with some of the more mainstream rock acts. The goal was to create something powerful, emotional, melodic, and spiritual. After two years of writing and 6 months of recording the self titled release is complete. To quote Mark, "I have always wanted to create an epic doom album like many of my old favorite bands. I always wanted to do this with Soul Inquisition but I always felt limited to Black and Death Metal. As the writing came along for this album is grew to be an epic doom album, yet still contains a few of the more mainstream elements I wanted. This of course is no mainstream record by all means. There are plenty of heavy riffs. I also decided that a limited "death vocals" approach would be the way to go. So I now sing in this band and will probably keep any growling to a minimum. The writing for the new album "Flicker" has begun. So far the sound can be compared to "Draconian Times" era Paradise Lost and "Like Gods Of The Sun" era My Dying Bride. I won't say exactly how the next album will sound but it won't be as aggressive. It will be more emotional and more melodic I hope. It will be evolved. The true sound of Long Since Dark has yet to come and the next album will see that. |
