Artist description the pacific northwest was known for many things in the early 1990s- grunge, microsoft and starbucks to name a few. the city grew rapidly, but changed with the new millennium. as the city shook and dot-coms fell, grew a new sound- a new music scene. gravity check is one of the few bands that has risen from the rubble of what was and now stand to represent the future of alternative metal. gravity check formed in september of 1993 from three neighborhood buddies. paul capps- drums, mike de lay- bass guitar and jason capps- guitar and vocals. with a few chords and a load of inspiration, they knew they were on track to something bigger than they had imagined. gravity check- a heavy three piece who deliver deep infectious grooves. live or recorded, the band presents an overwhelmingly intense show creating a voluminous wall of sound and energy. gravity check moved quickly through the ranks of the seattle music scene headlining at top venues and performing at northwest festivals. the band released their first self-titled cd in the fall of 1997. the cd gained the attention of several northwest radio stations including KNDD, KISW, KAOS and KUGR. gravity check continued to grow in regional popularity and played with national headliners and at festivals such as seattle’s own pain in the grass before a crowd of over 6,000. gravity check released language of a body in the summer of 2001. language of a body shows the growth of a garage band into a potential national act. gravity check’s cover of motley crue’s home sweet home also will be featured on an internationally released tribute compilation by ww3 records. gravity check relocated to los angeles in january of 2002 to take the next step in their musical career. a live performance that captivates you, gravity check delivers and guarantees to please. whether playing for twenty or two thousand, the audience will never be disappointed. a mix of brutal intensity and back to the basics rock. language of a body, demonstrates what gravity check does best- upset the delicate balance of genre crossover that currently saturates the alternative metal arena.
