Artist History
Cedric Justice, MC Death and Pamela Black (then Pamela Vanek) met as backing musicians for Portland industrial band Nefarium. After leaving that band, they met bass-player and songwriter Cameron Hays, who was working on solo electronic music under the name Generation Excuse. Originally performing under the name The Mourning After, Diao was a small blip on Portland's dark music scene. The band changed their name to Diao after the departure of keyboardist MC Death. After a few years of struggling in the Portland music scene, the band went their seperate ways and its members can be found in a variety of other projects. |

Press Reviews
"Comparisons to Siouxsie Sioux and The Cure came to mind as vocalist PJ Vanek crooned out songs in a low, sultry voice. The band disdained the use the use of a guitar, and instead made up for that instrument through keyboards and extensive effects from Cameron Hays' bass guitar, which at times emited the sounds of a bass, guitar, and keyboards."
"Doom Music Without the Doom"
"The band... continues to push the limits of a three-piece band."
