Press Reviews
Shauna Skye has the kind of pretty, girlish voice that immediately endears her to you. Backed by her simple, jangly guitar arrangements -- she does most of the instrumentation herself -- and sporadic noisy swellings and swirlings, she comes off like a rosy cheeked cherub sent straight from Indie Pop heaven. On the hard-candy covered "Brite," which sonically falls somewhere between Lush, the Sundays, and Twee Pop, Skye waxes poetic about all things shimmery and bright. Just before cavities begin to form, she picks up an electric guitar and forces grumblings from it that could pass for a revving Harley, singing all the while like a late '90s Miki Berenyi. Her knack for pretty songs is more than just a momentary satisfaction though. These pretty songs are guaranteed to taste just as delicious the first time as the 101st. - Kali H.
