Artist description
It is really hard for me to describe my own music, so ... I will let "Lanman" from MetalVault.com describe it. (REVIEW OF SOLITAIRE) --- "Mark basically created the entire project on his own playing all the instruments, and producing/engineering it. Only adding a few friends/musicians to hone in the vocals and adding another dimension of guitars.
What you get is a great variety of influences and flavors throughout Solitaire. I hear Pantera, Iron Maiden, Lynch Mob, Black Sabbath coming out of the speakers but all rolled into Imaginary Playmate." |

Artist History
I wanted to do something a little bit different for this new cd (Denial). I've had the storyline (concept) sitting around for a little over 3 years. However, people kept asking if I had a cd for sale, ... and myself & Thom had a few already done. So, I kind of threw together 4/5 more songs together to round out Solitaire. Which, of course took some time. In the meantime I had met Karen through longhairedmen.com, I heard one of her acoustic songs on UBL and was completely & totally blown away by her vocal talent. I just KNEW that someday we HAD to do something together. Karen & I worked out the details and she flew here from Boston in October 2001 ... Laid down her vocals tracks, did some partying, some karaoke singing, and there ya' have it. Also, between Solitaire & Denial I had recorded some songs for Squiggy Fraum. This led to hearing Steve's talents on drumming. Bill was already "in" on the Denial thing, and luckily for me Steve liked the initial ideas enough to want to be a part of the thing, too!
As for myself ... I've been playing guitar, off and on, for about 21 years now. I'm completely self-taught. Did the live thing back in the 80's around Indianapolis a little bit! I just picked the guitar up again in 93/94. Was working on an original band, then an original/cover band, but never got out of the garage before it fell apart! I just kind of decided in 97/98 to just do it all myself for a while, put it on CD, then hunt for band members. I just write/perform when I have the time to do it. |

Press Reviews
DENIAL: "Courtesy of Chavis Records" The brainchild of the project is musical phenomenon and guitarist Mark Coers. Denial is a true conceptual piece of Heavy Metal catapulting you back to the year of 1918. The story of twins born to a Jewish mother only to be separated by her death shortly after childbirth. The female twin being adopted into a traditional Jewish family and the male twin being adopted into a German family (later on ... to convert to, ... and climb the up ranks of the Nazi party). Come along on the twisted journey of two twins as they live life in a time when who and what you were mattered in a land of evil. As with all great concept projects the story line is essential to the project and Denial leaves no stones unturned. Denial is purely thought provoking and challenging. - Gabor Kleinbloesum from STRUTTER'ZINE: The music on the CD has a very 80s meets 90s approach and sounds not unlike acts such as LIZZY BORDEN and MALICE, while some KEEL similarities can also be heard (especially in the melodic songs). The melodic metal of IMAGINARY PLAYMATE sounds rather good and if you're a fan of the mentioned bands, then this sure is interesting for you to check out. ----- Andrea Bertamino from AOR WEBSITE: "Mass folder", "Legion" and "One more day" appeal to thrash metal fans, with those razor sharp guitars. ----- Lanman from MetalVault: "Mark basically created the entire project on his own playing all the instruments, and producing/engineering it. Only adding a few friends/musicians to hone in the vocals and adding another dimension of guitars. What you get is a great variety of influences and flavors throughout Solitaire.
