    Artist History
Originally formed in 1992 under the name of Eterne, the band released two demo tapes and a 7" ep with a style that was often categorised as gothic doom metal. These releases gained the band quite an underground following, and as a result they signed to Candlelight Records in 1993. Two albums were recorded for Candlelight, with the latter release demonstrating a change in direction towards a heavier, more industrial influenced sound. Relations with Candlelight became strained at this time culminating in an eventual split in 1997. Since then, the band have been developing their musical direction, spending over 18 months working on a new set of material that is far more dynamic in scope, and drawing out influences always latent in earlier releases.

    Press Reviews
Everything starts of with the title track "Fallen" which oscillates between subtle dance-like beats, thick guitar riffs, ethereal vocals and faster, more dynamic and aggressive sections. The dance-like elements put me off at first, but after a few listens everything sounded just right, I guess I just needed to get used to it. The old style of Eterne comes roaring back on the next track "Down", which is really upbeat, features lots of very catchy synth melodies and a dynamic guitar line. In the chorus it breaks up into a really fast, furious thrashy workout which proves just how well these guys can mix their softer, more gothic side with in-your-face metal aggression. The soft, emotionally-tinged vocals that are such a trademark of this band are out in full force and are truly one of the most recognizable aspects of their sound. Everything finishes off with "Will" which is just plain brilliant. It is a really slow, keyboard-oriented, doomy piece (no guitars for a change) which manages to convey a load of darkness and sorrow so overpowering very few other bands would be ever able to match it. The whole song is just so well written and manages to flow so well from one section to another I felt totally blown away by it. "Will" proves just how strong the songwriting skills of this band really are. As soon as this EP ended I felt like playing it again and again (and I have, trust me). Despite the short length of this release it is clear that DeadAuthor will easily continue the legacy that Eterne has left behind and I personally can't wait for a full-length release.
