Artist History
Dave Sasscer wrote his first songs in the fifth grade and began playing guitar at 17. "I grew up in Puerto Rico, which is a very nurturing environment for music. I'd listen to the Beatles, the Stones and Bob Marley at home, I'd hear Salsa all day long at the beach and when my older brother came back from College in the States, I'd get a copy of the latest Police or Sex Pistols single." He formed his first band, "The Singles", in Atlanta while at school. The group performed at clubs throughout the Southeast including the famed "688" in Atlanta and the "40 Watt" in Athens, Georgia. They developed a strong regional following and several of Dave's songs received airplay on local stations including WRAS and WREK. New York City was his next move. He formed a new band called Popthing and began performing regularly at downtown clubs including CBGB's, Under ACME and the Bitter End. After fronting a solo project, Dave Sasscer and the Mojo Conga Jam, for several more years, he began to split his time between New York and Paris, where he had a local hit with "Wear Me Out" on Radio Becage.
He recently relocated back to New York full-time to co-produce singer/songwriter Richie Haven's latest musical television project and record new original material
