Artist History
The Aakata's started in June of 1997 with the intent of bringing real Punk Rock back. Sick and tired of second rate Metal/Punk bands, The Aakata's set forth to show them what Punk is all about. The Aakata's played their first show in the summer of 1997 with the Restarts from England. During the next two years The Aakata's had a couple line-up changes. The Aakata's recorded their first CD and did a split 7" with Bootjack. During the summer of 2000 Cormac Brien (drums) joined the group. In the early fall Jim Monagle returned on bass. The Aakata's recorded the "Plinko Demo 2001" and continued to play as many live shows as possible. In February of 2002 The Aakata's added Jason Fowler on guitar. We have just finished a new CD "Long Time Caller First Time Listener". Jim Monagle left the band in September, 2002 due to career opportunities. Jim left the band on good terms! Jim was replaced by Sean Hoyt. The Aakata's have just recorded a new CD on 12/03/02. |

Press Reviews
(The Aakata's/Bootjack 7") The Aakata's start the whole mess turning with "Rock n' Roll Nightmare'. This is rough and tumble Punk with shouted vocals and a straight-forward Punk Rock guitar attack. This is bar room music just begging for pints of beer and a thrashy crowd. - Bruce Roehrs, MRR. (Those Naughty...CD) This review was really long so here are some exerts...This 4 piece band from SB, Indiana play old style Punk that stays away from politics. "You Make Me F*ckin Sick" has a very awesome guitar solo, and "Rock n' Roll Nightmare" has an amazing sounding chours. "No Lip" properly shows Ciks (old bass player) ability, as the track is begun with a very talented bass line. Impressive guitars, drums and vocals come into a great mix during "Search and Destroy". True Punk ideals are to be found on this disc, with songs about drinking beer and having fun! This CD is must for any real Punk Rocker! - Joe Keddy, Body Mag. |
