Artist History
Severed is the final form of a project that began in 1999 by four friends looking to do something both extreme and different. These four friends would see several different incarnations of their band, but they found fate bringing them back together through the worst of times.
In late fall of 1999, Lewis Skin and James Young came together with the intent of starting a band. They had a recently aquired friend named Paul Payton who played drums and James knew some one from school ,named Sid Torrence, that could play guitar. They played together for the first time and then Sid became the vocalist. These were the meager beginnings of what later became known as Fallout.
The band started booking shows quickly and indiscriminateley. The literally became a big hit overnight in their small hometown. After eight short months, Sid opted to leave the band, citing mental instability and creative differences. They all went in separate directions. After a few months of planning, the four came back together with a completely new style. James played guitar and sang, and Sid played lead guitar. The band became a mixture of old school punk and metal and began playing under the name Kamikaze Death Squad.
Kamikaze Death Squad made a name for themselves as the most aggressive local punk band in the Rome/Atlanta area. But, the transformation was far from complete. There was still something missing. The group decided to switch James to lead vocalist and bring in a new guitarist.
The group of four tried out several local guitarists but had very minimal success until finally aquiring Chris Chastain of Dyalation. This group of five members/friends evolved into the band that we know of today. This is Severed.
