Artist History
Project1218
In 1998 college friends Josh Ingram and Daniel Davis moved into a house on Bonnie Brae in Denton while attending the University of North Texas. They needed another roommate and Ingram’s high school drum line buddy Jason Stebing had just decided to transfer to UNT so he took the extra bedroom. These three enjoyed playing music in the living room on an almost nightly basis to kill time and work off stress from school and work. A few months later, Stebing moved out and Greg Dugan moved into the now vacant room. Greg was studying percussion at UNT and also joined into the nightly “jamâ€.
After the lease ran out and the guys went their separate ways, got married or found other forms of entertainment, Ingram was introduced to Michael Patterson through a mutual friend and the two quickly became friends sharing a love for the acoustic guitar and a still unknown band called Vertical Horizon. Ingram and Patterson began to gig as a two-man acoustic show at local pubs until they decided to take this hobby a little further.
When they decided to expand the duo to a full band, Ingram knew the perfect rhythm section to fit the style that was already being honed. Stebing and Davis joined the band for the first effort as Abby’s Game. AG played college bars and pubs usually for free with the exception of the occasional free bar tab. This first run did not produce any noticeable impact so the group took a few months to break down and rebuild the idea.
Emerging from the wreckage was project1218. A revamped acoustic groove built around strong vocal abilities and pulsing grooves was the nature of the beast that formed from this collaboration of talents. The ensuing album …what you’ve always wished you’d heard is a mix of styles from reggae to rock and filled with harmonies that give even the most desensitized listener goosebumps. With Ingram and Patterson on guitar, Davis on Bass, Stebing on drums, and the newly rejoined Dugan on percussion, this band is creating a fresh sound that is evolving into a new experience for all to enjoy.
