Artist description
Not My Gay Monkey, but mygaymonkey - just to be difficult.
To sum us up is an exercise in futility. We share a common love of music, and the band members all agree that we wanted to be in a band that we would want to go and see play live.
Hence, the infamy of our live performances go before us, where anything goes, and injuries are common.
If you like your rock and roll fast, loud and tongue in cheek, then you really can't go wrong.
With a penchant for ludicrous covers of songs from our 30-something youths, there's always something for everyone at a MGM gig. |

Artist History
Formed from the ashes of Ginger Whine in 2002, the name and members may have changed, but the attitude remains.
For a potted history of GW see the original MP3 site.
It took a new name, and a change in the lackadaisical attitude to stir us into action, get gigging and recording properly, and finally record sufficient decent quality tunes for release - hence the Digeridon't mini-album soon to be released to a less than eagerly anticipating world early in 2003.
Album recorded at Johnsons Dungeon Studio in Watford, Mixed/Produced by MGM. |

Group Members
Currently, there are 4 permament members, but this is regularly augmented by friends, family and other reprobates for recording duties and live appearences. Imagine North London's So Shoddy Crew, and you won't go too far wrong.
John Lloyd - AKA Ginger Johnson - Lead Guitarist and Riffsmith extrordinare. Lock this man away with a guitar for a couple of hours and he comes up with all those cheeky licks that people like in our music. Former member of The Daughters (of the South Kenton Revolution) and Founder Member of Ginger Whine.
Ian Spicer - AKA Spice (or Big Camp Monkey) - Bass and Vocals. The man who came up with the bands name, can take a punch, and is only 6 Stellas away from death. Under the dictionary definition of Rock there is a picture of him. Another Daughter and GW Founder, he also played with Lisa Dominique and several other bands.
Micky Kane - AKA Micky Bananas - Rhythm Guitar and Vocals. Shoehorned into the spotlight after the previous frontman unceremoniously left. Famous for getting air and forgetting the words. Can give a punch. Former member of Radio Free Europe, The B-Movie Producers, and bit part player with GW.
Nick Davies - AKA Nickistyx - Tubthumper and piercings. His services blagged from Invisible Lead Soup following previous drummers going AWOL. Saved the band from embarressing no show at Dangerfest 2002 when he stepped in at the last minute. Currently is in so much demand for his sevices, that to list his bands would take hours.
As for the MGM Crew....
Dave Lloyd - AKA Dangerous Dave - Vocals and "other" influences. The original GW frontman and legend has often lent his service behind the mic during extended recording (drinking) sessions round at Johnson's Dungeons.
Nancy - AKA Nance - Live Vocals - when ever we need a laydeez vocals live Nance is always up for it. Respect.
Tracey - AKA Teej - Live Vocals - When Nance isn't about, or there's Reefs to be drunk - who ya gonna call? Also responsible for keeping Spice alive for longer than we all expected possible.
Hayden Hack - AKA The SAFA Bru - Acoustic Guitar and Vocals. Former GW Frontman, Hayden left for a life of Strippers, alcohol and illicit sustances in Newcastle. He still features or the tracks that have good vocals on them. Could be a massive solo talent in his own right.
The Drum Machine - It deserves a mention as it's the only member of the band who really knows how to keep time. |
