Artist History
In the spring of 2000, Bob Boncore and Alex Neely decided that they wanted to start a rock band together. Bob had been playing guitar for a while already, but had recently bought a drum set and wanted to stick with it. Alex wanted to play bass and sing, but didn’t know how to play bass yet. After jamming with each other for a few months, Bob and Alex started to write songs together, with Bob writing the music, and Alex writing the lyrics. After Alex had bought a bass, and took lessons for a while, Unknown Army was just about ready to start, all that was left was a drummer since Bob had decided to stick with guitar. Greg Westerduin joined the band in the summer of 2001, and they jammed and did one show with that line up, but Greg left the band after two months, causing Bob and Alex to take a break as well. In December, the three of them re-formed the band, but this time having Bob do the songwriting, play guitar, and sing, and Alex play bass, and Greg on the Drums. With tons of new material, Unknown Army played shows in there hometown, and then in the Summer of 2002, they decided to record there first LP, Unknown Army. After more shows, and playing for different crowds at places such as The Saint and Maxwells, they recorded a new 3 song demo in December 2002. In January, 2003, Autumn Street guitarist Nielsen Nacis joined the band making the lineup complete. The band has a strong stage presence, with a sound that ranges from Alternative, to Pop-Rock. |
